Statewide Community Assessment Report

Central Nebraska Community Action Partnership is one of nine Community Action Agencies in Nebraska and part of the Community Action of Nebraska Network.  Community Action of Nebraska annually sends 10,000 surveys to randomly selected residents all across Nebraska. Each survey aims to discover the most pressing challenges Nebraskans face so that the Community Action agencies across the state will be better equipped to address those challenges.

Community Action of Nebraska worked closely with Wayne State College to develop each survey that includes questions on a variety of topics such as healthcare, childcare, finances, employment and challenges faced by individuals and families.

The surveys are funded by the Community Action agencies of Nebraska and the Department of Health and Human Services, Community Services Block Grant. Community Action agencies are private, non-profit organizations dedicated to helping low-income people attain self-sufficiency in all 93 counties of Nebraska.

The report features the following topics:

  • healthcare issues
  • housing barriers
  • perceptions of poverty
  • child and youth needs
  • basic needs
  • Employment Barriers
  • Income and finance behaviors

Community Action of Nebraska (CAN) is the state association for Nebraska’s nine Community Action agencies (CAAs), serving all 93 Nebraska counties.  CAAs are private non-profit organizations established under federal law to combat the presence and impacts of poverty in communities across the nation.
